CFWI Office

Come and join our free morsbag making session at our craft, coffee and chat group during the Great Big Green Week.

What are Morsbags?

Morsbags are strong, reusable, recycled, unique bags made from textiles.

Join in with our morsbag blitz.  You can make your own bags or you could cut out or iron or pin ready for others to machine.  We have some material; but you are welcome to bring your own.  Any cotton remnants will be good.  Materials required are on the webpage mentioned below.

Instructions will be available on the day and you can have a demo if you wish though they are very easy to make.

Construction details are available on this webpage: https://morsbags.com/make-a-morsbag/

If you bring your own material you will need one piece 46 by 100 cm or 18 by 40 inches for body and 2 pieces 46 by 10 cm or 18 by 4 inches for straps.

We need to know if you wish to bring a sewing machine to work on your own or join the production line (there are limited spaces). Please inform us when you book.

Cost: FREE

This event is run as one of craft, coffee and chat sessions. Cake and coffee is usually provided for which we request a donation of £1 towards costs and CFWI funds.

Jane Austen’s

Sense and Sensibility

Tolethorpe Hall Open Air Theatre

Saturday 20 July 2024 for 11.30am Performance

Every Summer 32,000 people attend the Stamford Shakespeare Company’s acclaimed season of plays at the Rutland Open Air Theatre at Tolethorpe near Stamford.

Performances take place on an open air stage set within an enchanting woodland glade.

Jane Austin tells the tale of the Dashwood Sisters and their contrasting approaches to life and love.

Although this is an open air theatre, no performance is ever cancelled due to inclement weather as there is a covered auditorium.  You may wish to bring a blanket if the weather is not so good to keep you warm during the performance.

You may wish to bring a picnic with you to enjoy after the performance.

There are a few steps to negotiate in the auditorium but I have asked for seats with as few steps as possible.   If you have any access requirements, please let us know on the booking form in order that the necessary arrangements can be made for you.

Coach pick up points:  Lode Depot 8.45am and Trumpington Park & Ride 9.30am.

Cost: Members £46.00 and Non Members £51.00

We are leaving Tolthorpe at 2.45pm

A Visit to Southwold and the

Suffolk Summer Theatre

Saturday 10 August 2024

The Combined Events Committee will once again be arranging this popular trip to Southwold by coach along with a matinee performance at The Southwold Theatre.

We arrive at the picturesque town of Southwold around 11.30 am allowing time for lunch and a walk around the town and clifftops before seeing a matinee performance of

“Good Morning Bill” at the quaint Southwold Theatre.

A dazzlingly written, fast-paced, 1920s romantic comedy. This featherlight souffle of wit, whimsey, and whirlwind romance delivers all the eccentricity and pure, oldfashioned charm that a period, English romcom should. In true Wodehouse fashion, the characters are irresistible, the laughs are loud, and the love is heartfelt, with echoes of both Wooster and Wilde.

The coach will depart from Alisons of Cambridge at 8.10am and Trumpington Park and Ride at 8.45am.   We will leave Southwold directly following the matinee performance.

The cost of this trip will be £50.00 WI members and £55.00 for non members
