Patchwork Weekend

Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 August 2022, 10am-4pm,  CFWI Office

Under expert tuition, explore Disappearing Blocks including 4 patch, 9 patch, hourglass and pinwheel.  The individual blocks will be demonstrated with a chance to make up one of each.  Then choose your favourite block to make up into a table runner.

The blocks will be mainly made up of two fabrics – a light fabric (plain or mixer fabric like a dimple or self on self fabric) with an all over print that is not directional and a fat quarter of a darker fabric.  To experiment with the blocks, bring along some scraps of fabric and a plain piece of fabric (could be a pillow case).

A pack of instructions containing each block will be provided, as well as demonstrations and guidance on rotary cutting, layout, construction and finish.

Sewing kit, rotary cutter, rulers, cutting mat

Wadding (the amount will be dependent on the length of your table runner but generally the finished size will be about 16” wide x 40” long)

Threads to match for the table runner

For the samples, some oddments of fabric or two pillowcases (provided they are cotton)

Please bring a packed lunch.  Coffee and tea will be provided.

A Visit to Southwold and the Suffolk Summer Theatre

Saturday 20 August 2022

The Combined Arts Committee are arranging a trip to Southwold along with tickets for the matinee performance at the Southwold Theatre.

We arrive at the picturesque town of Southwold about 11.30am allowing time for lunch and a walk around the town and clifftops before seeing a matinee performance at 4pm of “Perfect Wedding” at the quaint Southwold Theatre.

A masterclass of perfect Farce, in the French style, from the adapter of the phenomenally successful Don’t Dress for Dinner. Lightning-fast wordplay, mistaken identities, and physical comedy are made even more enjoyable by a romantic plot to rival a Richard Curtis movie.  Here comes the bride? – more like “where goes whose bride?!”

If you have any mobility problems please let me know so we can arrange suitable seating at the Theatre for you.

We will leave Lode at 8.10am and Trumpington P&R at 8.45am (amended times) and will return home directly following the end of the performance.

Cost including coach:  £50.00
